• Marketing Coordinator

    Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce
    Job Description

    Marketing Coordinator

Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce | Gig Harbor, WA
    30 hours per week | $22–$24/hour
Position expected to increase to 35 hours per week in January

Do you love telling great stories, creating eye-catching content, and finding new ways to connect people with their community?

The Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce is looking for a creative, organized, and energetic Marketing Coordinator to help us tell the stories of our members, promote our programs and events, and strengthen the visibility of the Chamber throughout the Greater Gig Harbor community.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys variety. One day you may be creating a social media campaign or designing an event graphic; the next, you may be writing a member spotlight, updating our website, capturing photos or video at an event, or helping promote an initiative that supports local businesses.

    About Us

Since 1980, the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce has worked to support businesses, strengthen our local economy, and connect the people and organizations that make Greater Gig Harbor such a special place to live, work, and do business.

Our Vision: Advancing Business, Empowering Community
Our Mission: Greater Gig Harbor’s leading advocate for economic vitality, business growth and prosperity.

    What You’ll Do

As our Marketing Coordinator, you’ll help bring the Chamber’s work to life across digital, print, and community channels. Your work will include:

    • Creating engaging newsletters, social media content, blogs, e-blasts, and member stories.
    • Managing and updating the Chamber website, event calendar, and online content.
    • Developing social media campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
    • Designing flyers, digital ads, signage, sponsorship materials, and other marketing collateral using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
    • Developing promotional plans, graphics, and messaging for Chamber programs and events.
    • Capturing photography and video content at Chamber events and activities.
    • Writing press releases and coordinating opportunities for earned media coverage.
    • Tracking email, website, and social media performance to understand what is working.
    • Supporting membership recruitment and retention communications.
    • Helping ensure the Chamber’s brand and voice are consistent across all communications.
    • Collaborating closely with a small, energetic team where everyone pitches in to make things happen.

Because we are a community-facing organization, you’ll also occasionally greet visitors, answer questions, assist with events, and help members and guests connect with the resources they need.

    Who We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you are someone who can take an idea and turn it into a compelling message, graphic, campaign, or story.

We’re looking for someone with 1–3 years of marketing, communications, or public relations experience who brings:

    • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
    • Strong social media skills and familiarity with scheduling platforms.
    • Experience creating attractive, professional materials in Canva, Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar programs.
    • Familiarity with website content management systems; WordPress or ChamberMaster experience is a plus.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to consistent branding.
    • The ability to work independently while also enjoying collaboration with a small team.
    • Comfort working in a busy office where priorities can shift and interruptions are part of the day.
    • Flexibility to occasionally work evenings, weekends, or nontraditional hours for events.

An associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field is preferred, but we also value relevant experience, creativity, initiative, and a genuine desire to learn.

Experience with a Chamber of Commerce or nonprofit organization is a plus—but a passion for supporting local businesses and strengthening community matters just as much.
