  • The Chamber offers multiple educational opportunities for both Chamber and community members. Education events are posted on the events calendar and are often posted about in the weekly Snapshot newsletter. 

    Members can also learn from:

    • Our Monthly Luncheons, the first Thursday of each month, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Canterwood Golf and Country Club
    • The Gig Harbor Young Professionals Meet & Greets, the 3rd Thursday of each month (times and locations vary).
    • Our Public Affairs Forums every Thursday morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Zoom

  • Resource Materials

    Retail is often an area where employees hone their customer service soft skills. The Washington Retail Association works with RISE Up to help train and certify retail employees. Why hire a RISE Up graduate? Retail Careers as stepping stones

  • SCORE Online Learning

    For those who prefer flexibility and enjoy online, self-paced learning, SCORE professionals offer free online workshops and webinars. Course topics cover everything business from A-Z. Check out SCORE’s website for more information. 

    SCORE Business Mentors

    Meet once, or meet many times, one-on-one with professionals who possess the knowledge and experience needed to help you start, grow, or improve your business. This free service takes place at the Chamber each Wednesday. Appointments are available with SCORE mentors at 1, 2, and 3 p.m.

    Please contact the Chamber at (253) 851-6865 to schedule your appointment. SCORE volunteers can also give you information for online mentoring as well as a list of local resources.

    Two mentors work in rotation, Elizabeth Frisino and Howard Svigals.

  • Elizabeth (Liz) Frisino

    Elizabeth Frisino is a resident of Gig Harbor. She is a SCORE Certified Mentor with seven years’ experience in counseling over 650 entrepreneurs in all aspects of starting and running a new or existing business. She is also a Tea & Tour researcher and presenter with the Harbor History Museum. Her professional credentials prior to SCORE include Treasurer, Samaritan House Tarrant County, Fort Worth, Texas; Business Operations Consultant, Resources Global Professionals, Dallas, Texas; Program Business Manager, Vought Aircraft Industries & Northrop Grumman, Dallas, Texas & Stuart, Florida; Vice President and Branch Manager, HSBC Bank USA (formerly Marine Midland Bank NA), in Panama City, Republic of Panama and Miami, Florida. 

    She earned her M.A.from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C and B.A. from La Salle University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

  • Howard Svigals

    Howard Svigals is a talented, results-oriented senior executive with over 30 years of experience in the technology and telecommunications industries. Howard retired from Verizon International as Group VP Finance – Americas and was also the VP / CFO for the non-profit Systems and Software Consortium. Howard has critical experience serving on numerous public companies Boards of Directors and Audit Committees and finance expertise in domestic & international operations. Strengths include hands-on leadership with a strong analytical and strategic focus, plus a proven ability to creatively solve problems and achieve long-term objectives. In addition to SCORE he is an active volunteer with the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor – Midday, Treasurer & Board Member Harbor WildWatch, and a member of the University of Oregon - FSAC Board of Advisors. 

    Howard is a graduate of the University of Oregon with a B.S. in Finance and an MBA from the University of Washington.
