Business Spotlight: Kelley Home Services, LLC

For more than 20 years, Kelley Home Services has been helping homeowners throughout Gig Harbor and the surrounding communities care for, improve, and transform the places they call home. What began as a small repair business has grown into a family-owned residential construction company offering everything from remodels and additions to custom homes, restoration, and outdoor living spaces. We connected with the Kelley Home Services team to learn more about their story, their commitment to quality craftsmanship, and the relationships they have built along the way.

Q. What does your business do, who do you serve, and what inspired you to start it ?

Kelley Home Services is a family-owned and operated residential construction company that has been serving Gig Harbor and the surrounding communities since 2000. We work with homeowners on everything from repairs and remodels to custom homes, additions, outdoor living spaces, and damage restoration. The company began with a simple belief: homes are important, and the work done on them should be done properly. Owner Pat Kelley originally worked as a repair contractor for a property management company and became frustrated by the lack of time and care being put into fixing things. He believed a home is someplace special, and the work done on it should reflect that. That belief became the foundation for Kelley Home Services. What began as a small repair business has grown into a family business with Pat, his wife Lory, their son Chris, and a talented team of craftsmen and trade partners. More than two decades later, that same commitment to doing things right continues to guide the company.

Q. What sets your business apart, and what is something people might not already know about it?

We believe our biggest difference is the value we place on doing things the right way, not just the fastest way. Our philosophy is simple: Honor God through every customer. Act with integrity, build it to last, and never forget that every project touches someone's family. That mindset influences everything from the materials we choose to how we communicate with our customers and how we approach the details that may never be visible once a project is finished.

We're also a true family business! Kelley Home Services grew from Pat's original repair work into a company where his wife, son, and a close-knit team all play important roles. Something people may not realize is how much our experience in repairs has influenced the way we approach remodeling and construction. We've seen firsthand how poor installation and inferior materials can create problems down the road. That's why durability and quality are such important parts of how we build.

Q. What are your main products or services, and is there a signature offering you are especially known for?  
We provide a wide range of residential construction services, including remodels and renovations, custom homes, damage repair, additions, outdoor living spaces, and general construction. Our remodeling work is truly our bread and butter and includes kitchens, bathrooms, whole-home transformations, additions, and other spaces that homeowners want to make more functional and enjoyable. We also build custom homes, helping clients bring their vision from the initial planning stages through construction.

A unique part of the Kelley Home Services experience is our design showroom in Gig Harbor, where homeowners can explore selections and get inspiration for their projects in one place. Having a dedicated showroom allows our team to work alongside clients as they make decisions about finishes, materials, fixtures, and other details, helping bring the overall vision for their home together. For homeowners dealing with unexpected damage, we provide repair and restoration services for issues including water, fire, storm, insect, and structural damage. We can also work with insurance companies and coordinate with specialty contractors and remediation professionals when needed. We also build and improve outdoor living spaces, including decks, patios, gazebos, and outdoor kitchens, along with general construction, finish carpentry, windows, doors, and concrete work.

At the end of the day, our specialty is really helping people take care of their homes - whether that means fixing something that isn't working, transforming an existing space, or building something new from the ground up.

Q. Why did you join the Chamber, and how do you stay involved in or support the local community?

We originally joined the Chamber because of our involvement in the Maritime Gig Parade. Each year, we select a nonprofit organization to sponsor through the parade, which has given us a great opportunity to support and provide exposure to some very beneficial organizations in our community!

Over the years, we've been proud to support organizations including Fish Food Bank, Food Backpacks for Kids, Girl Scouts, Peninsula Drama, and the Peninsula Special Education Community Transition Program. It's been a meaningful way for us to give back while being involved in one of Gig Harbor's favorite community traditions.

Q. What do you love most about your work, and can you share a favorite customer story or proud moment?

What we love most is helping people transform their homes into spaces they truly enjoy - designing and building places where family memories will be made and cherished for years to come. We also genuinely enjoy helping people. Many of our customers initially come to us with a problem or damage to their home, and over the years, we've had the opportunity to help them with additional remodels and additions as their families and needs change.

One of our current projects is especially meaningful because we're building an addition onto a home we originally built for the parents. Now, their son is expanding that same home for his own family. Another recent project brought us back to a home we built nearly 20 years ago that recently experienced water damage. We're now restoring the damage, and many of the home's original rooms are still intact. It's pretty rewarding to see how well the home has held up after two decades and to have the opportunity to restore a home we built so many years ago!

Those long-term relationships are one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. We aren't just building or remodeling a house - we're often becoming part of a family's story and getting to see how their home evolves with them.

Q. What’s next for your business, including any goals, upcoming events, or promotions you would like us to highlight?

We're continuing to grow while staying true to what has always mattered to us: quality craftsmanship, personal service, and building things that last.

We're excited to continue helping local families with custom homes, remodels, additions, repairs, and outdoor living projects. As our community continues to grow and homeowners' needs change, we're looking forward to being a trusted resource for them through all of those stages. We're also looking forward to continuing our involvement in the Gig Harbor community and finding meaningful ways to support local organizations and families.
