The Community Table is an “Evening Against Hunger”. This special dinner under the stars, will raise critical funds for all local programs working to ensure the essential food needs of area families are met Don your white and black for an amazing locally sourced gourmet dinner, prepared by Chef/Owner Erik Smith of the Green.House restaurant and Chef Lora Smythe-DuBois of Lora’s LeGarmache Catering, replete with contemporary soul sounds from Tara Anne Chugh, to help raise funds to directly support area organizations working to eliminate hunger and its impacts on children and families in our community. The locally sourced ingredients will be transformed into a epicurean experience bringing awareness to hunger in our community, the core of the evening’s benefit. Every dollar raised through The Community Table equals about 5 pounds of food that will help stock the shelves of our local food banks for nearly 6 months – those months when need is at its greatest (late Spring through early Fall). Our goal, $25,000 (or about 62.5 tons of food). It’s all about community at The Community Table! Each ticket, includes an amazing three course gourmet dinner, live music, a locally crafted ceramic water tumbler/glass to take home, and your donation to THE COMMUNITY TABLE FUND an endowed perpetual community fund, established to help take a permanent stand against hunger. An average of 30% of youth enrolled in our schools (about 1 in 4) come from families who meet federal criteria for free or reduced lunch programs. For many, these are the only meals they receive with any regularity. And, 1 in 7 adults, primarily seniors, across our community struggle with hunger. Across all age groups, nearly 25% of our population live in households that struggle against food insecurity, or lack of access to an affordable, nutritious diet – more than double the national average! Since 2013, GGHF has provided more than 117 tons of food and funding, totaling more than $1-million in support, to area organizations working to eliminate food insecurity. Help us continue this impact!
