John brings a lifetime of personal financial planning to his role as a professional financial planner. He began investing for retirement his senior year in college. He and his late wife, Jan, developed a college education funding plan for their two children that enabled them to graduate without student loans. While living in church-owned housing for 38 years, they set aside funds for a custom-designed home when John retired as a pastor. They also made major gifts to educational, social service and religious institutions.
When his wife of 47 years, Jan, died unexpectedly in 2013, John faced the greatest challenge of his life. He understands the difficulty of managing legal, financial and personal details while coping with grief that numbs the mind and deeply wounds the heart.
John now joyfully shares his life with Kathy, following their marriage in 2016. This change led John through the financial planning and legal steps necessary to maintain assets for heirs that each brought to their marriage, while sharing current income for ongoing expenses, new joint savings and charitable giving.
I meet with clients virtually, in their home or a mutually agreed upon conference room, restaurant or other public setting.
