Gig Harbor has four distinct business districts each with its own special feel, personality, unique character and history. You’ll love the diversity of each area and will experience the joy of shopping with merchants who exude the passion that is Gig Harbor. The warmth and hospitality of our business community will astound you. Come, shop…we’re waiting for you!
Gig Harbor North – Purdy & the Key Peninsula
The Borgen Boulevard area, just north of Gig Harbor, is home to the new neighborhoods of Harbor Hill and the popular community of Canterwood Golf and Country Club. St. Anthony Hospital, the YMCA, and several financial institutions also call Gig Harbor North home. You will find retail stores such as Target, Albertson’s, Office Depot, Home Depot Costco, and a wide variety of restaurants making this a popular shopping destination.
In nearby Purdy and the Key Peninsula you’ll discover a diverse range of businesses waiting to be of service. The communities of Vaughn, Home, and Key Center have become popular areas for living the country lifestyle.
Kimball Drive & Civic Center
Kimball Drive & the Civic Center area is multifaceted. Services and shops are interspersed with restaurants, medical offices, and our local newspaper, The Peninsula Gateway. This is also a starting point for the Cushman Trail if you want to walk or run. If you have children who are skateboarders, you’ll want to check out our acclaimed skate board park on the grounds of the The Gig Harbor Civic Center.
Historical Waterfront District
Our businesses along Harborview and Pioneer offer a wide variety of shopping and dining adventures, and doubles as a great place to people watch. If it's fine dining you want visit Brix25, The Green Turtle or Il Lucano Restaurant; you won't be disappointed. Feeling like something more casual? Check out world famous Tides Tavern, Anthony's or Red Rooster on the water or Kelly's Cafe for their award winning burgers and ice cream. The waterfront district also features our active fishing industry with deep historical roots that continue to be a major part of our lives. Other points of interest:
Westside & Uptown
Whether it’s something for healthy day-to-day living or that special once in a while upscale purchase, it’s hard to imagine anything you’d need that couldn’t be found in this district. The district features four grocery stores, fashion shopping, restaurants, a state of the art ten screen movie theater, hardware supplies, public library, boutique shops, a gym, and business services galore. Beware: You could spend days visiting these shopping areas. The Uptown serves as a great location for our local Saturday Farmer's Market, which runs from April through September annually.
